Terry leaves Tuesday. He's going around the world starting in New Zealand. Basically the opposite way from me. He's about two months ahead of me, so it's been helpful watching him prepare. I wrote to tell him bon voyage.

Just wanted to write before you head off and I don't know if i'll have time between now and Tuesday. If you check your server logs, you know your site has been keeping me inspired for the last couple of months. I'm the guy from like cvg.rr.com or something that keeps hammering your server :) I just looked... and i've been reading your stuff since like July 14th. wow. it's gone quickly.

I'll be watching closely for the next month and a half, and as often as i can after that. I suppose it's possible we'll wind up near each other somewhere sometime. We should try to hook up.

Isn't it bizarre knowing how radically your life is about to change? I moved around a lot just after college changing jobs... but it was just continuing the same life in a new place. There *was* the Appalachian Trail, but somehow this is different. It's is a totally new way of living. At least for me. For the first time, my experiences will be limited not by time, but by money. I can spend practically unlimited time doing something cheap, but very little time doing something expensive. It's a simple idea, but it dramatically changes how you live your life.

At this point you're asking, "why is this guy telling me this?" Good question. I don't know. This belongs in a journal entry.

My original point here was to tell you good luck... bon voyage. It's been nice to learn from the experiences of someone who's a month or two ahead of me in all this.
