Notice: This entry contains commentary on life without a job. While not intended to annoy, if I were still employed and having a bad Monday, I might not want to read this.
The departure, like most highly-anticipated events, was far from a momentous occasion. Dad and I went by the station one last time. I needed to drop off my keycard to the station and the keys to my temporary apartment. I also dubbed off a few resume tapes just to have them handy when I need to look for another job. We took a couple of photos in front of the building and hit the road for Virginia.
It was interesting looking at the Cincinnati skyline in the rearview mirror as we crossed the Ohio River. I'd done the same thing leaving Syracuse, Altoona and Peoria. All four cities are situated such that they line up perfectly in your mirror as you leave town. I had a moment.
"I've heard no sirens and seen no smoke plumes." So today I wake up on a Monday with nowhere to go. I haven't seen the news, but I've heard no sirens and seen no smoke plumes on the horizon. It would seem the world has gone on without me. It's interesting, though, knowing the rest of the world is going about its meaningful existence while I lounge around at noon wondering if I should get dressed.
To illustrate this new reality I shall compare and contrast this morning with last Monday morning.

Now, does this get old after a while? Yes. I've done it before and I know. But before long I'll be off on my little excursion which should alleviate some of the boredom.
"I've managed to miss every media appearance so far." If you get the Cincinnati Post, be sure to take a second look at last Saturday's edition. I hear I was supposed to be in there. I missed it and am trying to get a copy to post on here, but I don't have it yet and it's not anywhere on the website. I've managed to miss every media appearance so far. This doesn't speak well for any future I may have in public relations.
I got a new CD drive for the computer, so I should be able to post more photos in the next few days.
